JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Nuclear Medicine Technologist is responsible for performing nuclear medicine procedures in Diagnostic Imaging and the Heart Center, maintaining departmental standards in accordance with the WA Radioactive Materials License, and staying up-to-date on new techniques and procedures. This position works under supervision of Radiologists and Cardiologists, while independently performing nuclear medicine testing, and administering radioisotopes safely to patients for diagnostic purposes upon the request of a physician. Work situations require a service-oriented individual. Procedures performed require independent judgment, initiative, ingenuity, and strict adherence to radiation safety management guidelines. Internal contacts are primarily with patient care staff. External contacts include patients, families, physicians, and peers.
Education:
Has completed Nuclear Medicine Technology training and meets the requirements for registry by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or equivalent Certified Nuclear Medical Technologists (CNMT). Has knowledge of clinical applications of both general radiology and cardiology nuclear medicine.
Experience:
Two years previous experience in Nuclear Medicine hospital setting preferred.
Licensure/Credentials:
Current American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or equivalent (CNMT) certification is required. Washington State Radiologic Technologist Certification is required. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
