Job Title: Nuclear Medicine Technologist

Department: Radiology/Medical Imaging

Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Nuclear Medicine Technologist to join our team. As a Nuclear Medicine Technologist, you will play a crucial role in performing diagnostic imaging procedures using radioactive materials to help physicians diagnose and treat various medical conditions. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to patient care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform nuclear medicine procedures, including administering radiopharmaceuticals and operating imaging equipment such as gamma cameras, PET scanners, and SPECT.
  • Prepare and administer radiopharmaceuticals according to safety protocols and regulatory guidelines.
  • Position patients properly to obtain high-quality imaging results while ensuring their comfort and safety.
  • Monitor patients throughout imaging procedures and provide clear instructions.
  • Ensure compliance with radiation safety and protection standards, including the proper handling, disposal, and storage of radioactive materials.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and document imaging procedures, including patient information, imaging results, and any complications or reactions.
  • Work closely with physicians to interpret and analyze imaging results.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot imaging equipment to ensure proper functionality.
  • Follow all healthcare and hospital safety, infection control, and privacy regulations.
  • Provide excellent patient care and demonstrate empathy and professionalism when interacting with patients and their families.

Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree or higher in Nuclear Medicine Technology from an accredited program.
  • Certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Nuclear Medicine (NM) or certification from the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB).
  • Current state licensure (if applicable).
  • Strong understanding of nuclear medicine procedures, safety protocols, and radiation protection.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Detail-oriented and capable of maintaining accurate records.
  • Ability to provide quality patient care in a compassionate and efficient manner.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in PET/CT imaging or other advanced nuclear medicine techniques.
  • Advanced certifications in Nuclear Medicine Technology.
  • Experience with electronic medical record (EMR) systems.
