Job summary

Midwest Cardiovascular Institute in Naperville, IL is seeking a Nuclear Medicine Leader to provide daily leadership for Nuclear Medicine staff, oversee workflow and staffing, and ensure high-quality patient imaging and safety. The role emphasizes education, performance coaching, and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities include coordinating scheduling, onboarding, and mentoring, while maintaining exceptional patient care and department productivity.

Qualifications

• Current Illinois State Radiologic Technology Board of Examiners license.
• ARRT and/or NMTCB registration.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Minimum of two (2) years of Nuclear Medicine experience preferred.
• Leadership, supervisory, or preceptor experience preferred.
• Excellent communication, organizational, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Review patient history and physician orders to ensure appropriateness of procedures.
• Prepare and educate patients regarding imaging procedures to minimize anxiety and promote cooperation.
• Administer radiopharmaceuticals and medications per physician orders.
• Operate nuclear medicine imaging and radiation detection equipment to perform diagnostic procedures.
• Position patients to obtain high-quality diagnostic images while ensuring comfort and safety.
• Evaluate image quality and ensure studies meet diagnostic standards before submission for interpretation.
• Follow radiation safety principles, infection prevention, and departmental policies to minimize exposure and maintain safety.
• Monitor patients and respond to emergencies, including venipuncture and BLS when necessary.
• Maintain accurate patient documentation and comply with HIPAA and regulations.
• Assist with staffing coverage at other clinic locations and departments as needed.
• Provide daily leadership and guidance to Nuclear Medicine staff.
• Coordinate daily workflow, patient scheduling, and staffing assignments.
• Serve as the primary clinical resource for staff with education, mentoring, coaching, and competency development.
• Assist with onboarding, orientation, and training of new employees.
• Monitor department productivity, quality metrics, and patient satisfaction; identify opportunities for improvement.
• Ensure compliance with radiation safety, infection prevention, and quality assurance standards.
• Coordinate equipment maintenance, quality control testing, and service requests.
• Monitor inventory levels of radiopharmaceuticals and supplies; assist with purchasing and cost control.
• Collaborate with physicians and leadership to support efficient department operations and patient outcomes.
• Assist leadership with employee performance evaluations, coaching, and staff recognition.
• Participate in recruitment, interviewing, and staffing recommendations.
• Address patient concerns and assist with service recovery.
• Support departmental audits, accreditation surveys, and quality improvement initiatives.
• Provide leadership coverage during the absence of the department manager or director.
• Promote a culture of accountability, teamwork, safety, professionalism, and continuous improvement.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Ensure compliance with all federal, state, accreditation, and organizational standards related to radiation safety, infection prevention, and quality assurance.

Coordinate equipment maintenance, quality control testing, and service requests to ensure optimal equipment performance.

Monitor inventory levels of radiopharmaceuticals, supplies, and department equipment, assisting with purchasing and cost control initiatives.

Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, nursing staff, and leadership to support efficient department operations and exceptional patient outcomes.

Assist leadership with employee performance evaluations, coaching, corrective action, and staff recognition.

Participate in recruitment, interviewing, and staffing recommendations as requested.

Address patient concerns and assist with service recovery efforts in a professional and timely manner.

Support departmental audits, accreditation surveys, and quality improvement initiatives.

Provide leadership coverage during the absence of the department manager or director.

Compensation

Starting pay is $42.75 per hour, with compensation commensurate with experience, education, certifications, and leadership experience.
