Job summary

Community Hospital in Grand Junction, CO is seeking a Nuc Med PET/CT Tech to perform PET/CT and Nuclear Medicine examinations in accordance with physician orders and established protocols. The role requires patient screening, preparation, venipuncture, radiopharmaceutical administration, and selecting imaging protocols while applying ALARA principles.

Candidates should have accredited Nuclear Medicine Technology education, NMTCB/ARRT certification, BLS, and prior PET/CT experience; relocation to

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited Nuclear Medicine Technology program.
  • Associate degree or higher preferred.
  • Current NMTCB and/or ARRT certification in Nuclear Medicine.
  • Current ARRT CT certification in addition to Nuclear Medicine is preferred.
  • Current CT certification/registration through ARRT or equivalent.
  • Current BLS certification required.
  • Previous Nuclear Medicine and PET/CT experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Performs PET/CT and Nuclear Medicine examinations per orders and protocols.
  • Screens patients for contraindications, allergies, pregnancy status, and safety factors.
  • Prepares patients for PET/CT and Nuclear Medicine examinations, including fasting as applicable.
  • Performs venipuncture and administers radiopharmaceuticals and contrast media as allowed.
  • Selects imaging protocols based on orders and patient factors.
  • Acquires diagnostic-quality PET and CT images with ALARA principles.
  • Reviews images for quality and may obtain additional images.
  • Monitors patients and responds to adverse reactions.
  • Assists with department workflow and other imaging duties within scope.

Description

Position Highlights:

  • Position: Nuc Med PET/CT Tech
  • Location: Community Hospital

Responsibilities:

  • Performs PET/CT and Nuclear Medicine examinations in accordance with physician orders, established protocols, and department procedures.
  • Screens patients for contraindications, allergies, pregnancy status when applicable, blood glucose levels, and other factors that may affect the safety or quality of the examination.
  • Prepares patients for PET/CT and Nuclear Medicine examinations, including appropriate fasting,
  • Performs venipuncture and administers radiopharmaceuticals and contrast media, when authorized and within scope of practice.
  • Selects and applies appropriate imaging protocols based on the examination ordered and patient-specific clinical considerations.

Acquires diagnostic-quality PET and CT images while minimizing radiation exposure consistent with ALARA principles.

  • Reviews images for technical quality, positioning, artifacts, and completeness and obtains additional images when appropriate.
  • Performs contrast-enhanced PET/CT examinations and follows established procedures for contrast administration and management of adverse reactions.
  • Monitors patients throughout examinations and recognizes and responds appropriately to changes in patient condition or adverse reactions.
  • Assists with department workflow and may perform other imaging or nuclear medicine procedures within the individual's education, training, credentials, and scope of practice.

Requirements:

  • Graduate of an accredited program in Nuclear Medicine Technology.
  • Associate degree or higher preferred.
  • Current certification through the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) and/or American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Nuclear Medicine, as applicable to the position.
  • Current certification through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Computed Tomography (CT) in addition to Nuclear Medicine is preferred.
  • Current certification/registration in CT through ARRT or equivalent.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
  • Previous experience in Nuclear Medicine and PET/CT preferred.

Compensation:

  • The anticipated compensation range for this position is $48.00–$55.20 per hour, commensurate with qualifications, education, experience, and other applicable factors. This position is exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act.
  • Additional compensation may be available in the form of discretionary incentive or other compensation programs. Any such additional compensation is not guaranteed and is determined at the sole discretion of the organization based on applicable program terms, individual and/or organizational performance, and other eligibility requirements.
