Description

Title: Nuclear Med Tech

Work Status: PRN Days

Location: Dallas, TX

JOB SUMMARY

The Nuclear Medicine Technologist (NM Tech), under general supervision of a Radiologist, performs nuclear medicine procedures, PET, and theranostic procedures on ambulatory and hospital patients as requested by a physician or other licensed provider for the diagnosis of disease and injury in accordance with established protocols.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLE
  1. Quality Assurance: Performs high-quality nuclear medicine, PET, and theranostic procedures (planar, SPECT, and SPECT/CT), according to exam protocol, in a timely manner. Evaluates the quality of imaging procedures and follows established standards. Maintains equipment through quality control (Q.C.) and collaborates with engineers and physicists for optimal operation.
  2. Caring Practices: Communicates effectively with patients to identify needs, ensure correct exams, and establish rapport. Instructs patients and families about procedures, respecting HIPAA regulations, and assesses patient tolerance.
  3. Patient Safety: Explains procedures to patients, adheres to safety protocols, prepares patients and areas, and uses aseptic techniques as needed.
  4. Radiation Safety: Ensures safety for patients, staff, and self by following radiation safety protocols. Verifies correct radiopharmaceuticals, screens for pregnancy, and educates patients on safety techniques.
  5. Collaboration: Reports issues, assists with supplies and radiopharmaceuticals, and ensures accurate transfer of images to PACS for review.

  • Ability to observe and communicate changes in patient condition, administer first aid, and respond to emergencies.
  • Maintains current knowledge and skills across various age groups.
  • Performs tasks independently, maintains professionalism under stress, and seeks to improve patient satisfaction.
  • Capable of training new team members and students.
  • Proficient with system workflows, computer skills, and electronic documentation.
  • Willing to take call if required.

CERTIFICATION/LICENSE/REGISTRATION
