Job Description

UPMC offers a $6,000 sign-on bonus with a 2-year commitment for new hires.

Performs imaging procedures at a technical level not requiring constant supervision. Competently performs a variety of technical procedures that require independent judgment, ingenuity, and initiative to apply prescribed ionizing radiation for diagnostic purposes.

This position will work day shifts with rotating call evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities:

1. Demonstrates a strong ability to interact with both patients and co-workers, while displaying a high level of caring, listening, dignity, and respect. Able to work as a team member within the department and all other departments to expedite patient care efficiently.
2. Communicates instructions clearly to patients, explains procedures to help allay fears, and solicits cooperation.
3. Ensures all exams within responsibility are properly coded, tracked through the RIS system, networked to ISITE for archiving and interpretation, and all charges are entered correctly.
4. Maintains records of radiopharmaceutical receipt, use, and disposal.
5. Properly identifies all patients using two identifiers, utilizes universal protocol, reviews patient history, assesses physician orders, and applies departmental protocols for optimal data acquisition. Documents patient history in electronic records.
6. Calculates, measures, and records patient dose according to departmental policies and Radiation Safety Guidelines.
7. Performs nuclear medicine exams with high proficiency to produce optimal results.
8. Performs quality control checks on imaging and non-imaging equipment to ensure proper performance.

Qualifications:

• Graduate of an accredited Nuclear Medicine Technology Program.
• Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
• ARRT(N) or CNMT registry or registry eligible; must obtain registry within 12 months of hire.
• CPR or BLS required, based on AHA standards, including both didactic and skills demonstration within 30 days of hire.
• ARRT Certificate OR Nuclear Medicine Technologist Certification (NMTC).
• Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal.
• Act 33 with renewal.
• Act 34 with renewal.
• Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal.
