Job summary

MedStar Health’s Washington Hospital Center is seeking a Nuclear Medicine Technologist to perform cardiac nuclear testing and ensure high-quality care. The role requires ICANL QA participation, proper radiopharmaceutical handling, and accurate data archiving.

The ideal candidate holds an Associate degree in Nuclear Medicine, active NRC or Maryland license, and CPR/ACLS certifications; Bachelor’s degree is preferred and experience in a licensed facility is a plus.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Actively participates in QA to maintain ICANL accreditation and coordinates preventive maintenance and emergency service calls to keep patient schedules efficient.
• Maintains daily patient schedule and ensures correct dosing and invoicing with approved vendors.
• Maintains patient data and image logs, archives studies, and ensures accurate records.
• Performs regular quality controls on nuclear camera and labs, and prepares summary reports for physician review.
• Alerts physicians about abnormal results and coordinates timely communication of data to referring physicians.

Education

Associate degree in Nuclear Medicine

Current NRC or Maryland license

CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation)

ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)

Bachelor's degree preferred

MedStar Health is looking for a Nuclear Medicine Technologist to join our team! The ideal candidate will be a Nuclear Medicine Technologist with demonstrated effective communication and problem-solving skills.

As a Nuclear Medicine Technologist, you will perform cardiac nuclear testing to assure high-quality care and service to patients.

Primary Duties:

• Actively participates in quality assurance program by completing all requirements to maintain ICANL accreditation. Ensures equipment is available by coordinating preventive maintenance programs and scheduling emergency service calls to maintain an efficient patient schedule.

• Maintains daily patient schedule in collaboration with other staff members. Ensures correct doses of radioisotopes and pharmacologic stress agents are ordered and appropriately invoiced by communicating with approved vendors.

• Maintains log of patient data and stored images by entering correct patient demographic information and archiving studies to ensure complete and accurate records are maintained. Performs cardiac nuclear testing by following ICANL guidelines to ensure high-quality diagnostic studies are performed.

• Performs quality controls daily, weekly, and quarterly to the nuclear camera, hot lab equipment, and crash cart. Prepares preliminary diagnostic reports by compiling relevant measurements and data to provide summary reports for physician review, interpretation, and signature. Provides patient instructions, answers questions relating to scheduled procedures, and obtains informed consent for the ordered testing to ensure quality care.

• Recognizes and alerts the physician to abnormal patient response and studies by immediately contacting the physician to discuss and assist with appropriate next steps. Sends diagnostic reports or copies of MPI studies when required to ensure timely communication of patient data to referring physicians.

Qualifications:

• Associate degree in Nuclear Medicine.

• Current Nuclear license with the NRC or State of Maryland.

• Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation.

• Advanced Cardiac Life Support.

• Bachelor's degree preferred.

• Post-graduation experience in a licensed facility, performing all aspects of cardiac nuclear testing preferred.

USD $35.68 - USD $64.71 /Hr.
