Job summary

Huntsville Hospital Health System is seeking a Cardiovascular Stress Test Technician to perform exercise and pharmacologic stress tests for nuclear cardiology procedures. You will work with and around radioactive materials and administer medications under physician supervision.

Education: HS/GED required; college coursework in medical/science fields preferred. Certifications such as CCT, LPN, or EMT II are preferred.

Qualifications

• HS/GED required; college coursework preferred in medical or science fields.
• CCT, LPN, or EMT II preferred.
• BCLS certification required within 6 months of hire.
• One year cardiology experience preferred; 12-lead ECG and/or stress testing experience preferred.

Job description

Overview

Performs exercise and pharmacologic stress tests for nuclear cardiology procedures. Works with and around radioactive materials. Administers medications as prescribed and under the supervision of a physician. These medications include, but are not limited to, adenosine, Dobutamine, regadenoson, atropine, aminophylline, nitroglycerine, metoclopramide and sodium chloride.

Qualifications

Education: HS/GED required. Prefer college level course work, specifically in medical or science related fields. Certified Cardiographic Technician (CCT), LPN, or EMT II is preferred. Healthcare Provider BCLS is required within 6 months of hire.
Experience: One-year experience in the cardiology field preferred. Experience in 12-lead electrocardiograms and/or stress testing is preferred.
Additional Skills/Abilities: Ability to communicate in English with people from diverse socioeconomic backgrounds. Ability to use effective interpersonal relation skills when working with a variety of people and situations. Ability to work in a fast paced environment and adjust to continuing changes in the daily work schedule. Absolute integrity in the accurate performance & reporting of diagnostic procedures. Ability to type for administrative, technical, and procedure related purposes. Basic computer and keyboard skills required. Must be able to display positive attitude, cheerfulness, and the willingness to assist when communicating with the public.
