Job summary

Huntsville Hospital in Huntsville, AL, is seeking a Cardiovascular Technician I/II to operate advanced diagnostic and interventional equipment in the cardiovascular lab and to participate in training and supervision of other Cardiovascular Techs.

The role requires a HS/GED, plus college course work, and certification as Anesthesia Tech if hired after July 1, 2014, and Healthcare Provider BCLS within orientation; six months experience as Cardiovascular Technician II or equivalent.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; college courses preferred.
• Anesthesia Tech certification required if hired/promoted after 1 July 2014.
• Healthcare Provider BCLS certification required within orientation.

Responsibilities

• Operate advanced diagnostic and interventional equipment.
• Train and supervise other Cardiovascular Techs.
• Evaluate, learn and/or teach new technologies as required.
• Work in or around radioactive areas.
• Administer prescribed medications under physician supervision (e.g., adenosine, Dobutamine, regadenoson, atropine, Aminophylline, nitroglycerine, metoclopramide, heparin, saline).

Job description

Performed the essential functions of a Cardiovascular Technician I and II. Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to, operation of advanced diagnostic and interventional equipment; participation in the training and supervision of other Cardiovascular Techs; and participation in the evaluation, learning and/or teaching of new technologies as required. Works in or around radioactive areas. Administers medications as prescribed and under the supervision of a physician. These medications include, but are not limited to, adenosine, Dobutamine, regadenoson, atropine, Aminophylline, nitroglycerine, metoclopramide, heparin and sodium chloride.

Qualifications

Education: HS/GED required with participation in college level courses preferred. If hired/promoted after July 1, 2014, an active Anesthesia Tech. Certification is required. Healthcare Provider BCLS is required within the orientation period.

Experience:Require a minimum of six months experience as a Cardiovascular Technician II or its equivalent skill level.
