Job summary

Singing River Health System is seeking a Nuclear Medicine Technologist for the Ocean Springs Hospital location. The role performs diagnostic and therapeutic procedures using radiopharmaceuticals under supervision, ensuring radiation safety and quality control, with vascular access proficiency.

Shift is Monday–Friday, 6:30 AM–3:00 PM, with rotating call and holidays. Requires ARRT/NMTCB license and MS Department of Health licensure; BCLS and de-escalation training within 90 days; prior NM

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in health field required.
• Graduate of an approved Nuclear Radiology Technology Program required.
• Must be licensed as a CNMT/RT NM or NMTCB; MS Dept of Health license.
• BCLS certification required; de-escalation training within 90 days.

Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures with radiopharmaceuticals.
• Maintain quality control and safety standards for radiology equipment.
• Assist in policy/procedure development and accreditation preparation.
• Lead Nuclear Radiology Technologist and Operations Manager reporting.
• Prolonged standing and physical tasks with attention to safety and accuracy.

Job Description Summary Job Description Position Overview: The Nuclear Med Tech, under the supervision of the Chief Nuclear Medicine Technologist and Radiologist, performs diagnostic and therapeutic procedures utilizing radiopharmaceuticals, exercises professional judgment in performance of services, and applies principles of radiation protection for self and the patient. He/She must be proficient in vascular access. The Nuclear Medicine Technologist operates equipment requiring detailed concentration for extended periods of time with, stocks an adequate inventory of supplies at all times, and maintains quality control of procedures and quality assurance of equipment. The Nuclear Med Tech helps ensure that the Radiology department meets accreditation agency standards and achieves the Health System objectives. He/She assists with the development and revision of policies, procedures, and protocols as requested. Education

Associate’s degree in a health field required. Graduate of an approved Nuclear Radiology Technology Program required.

License

Must be currently licensed as a Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist, RT Nuclear Medicine Technologist, or a Medical Radiation Technologist by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board, Inc. (NMTCB). Must be licensed by the Mississippi State Department of Health.

Certifications

Must complete and maintain BCLS certification upon hire and/or transfer. Must have de-escalation training completed by the end of position orientation (90 days); must have appropriate level of de-escalation training.

Experience

Prior experience as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist preferred.

Physical Demands

• Stands, turns, bends, stoops, lifts, climbs, and uses many physical motions in performing day-to-day activities.
• Must be able to stand for extended periods of time and do a great deal of walking without experiencing undue fatigue.
• May be exposed to communicable disease or radiation.
• Work involves being able to perceive the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels, with or without correction.
• Must demonstrate the ability to communicate, speak, and enunciate to express/exchange ideas and detailed information in person and on the telephone.
• Work requires a minimum standard of visual acuity, with or without correction, with the ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus, i.e. shift gaze from viewing a computer monitor to forms that are closer to compare data at close vision.

• Must possess proficient knowledge and ability to use a computer (must be keyboard proficient) and other office technology (i.e., telephone, fax, etc.).
• Must have intermediate knowledge of MS Outlook, and Word.
• Work involves exposure to communicable diseases, CRT (computer) equipment, blood and/or body fluids, and electromagnetic energy.
