Baptist Health in Lexington, KY is seeking a PET/Nuclear Medicine Technologist to join Diagnostics and Imaging Services. The role performs MPI and related nuclear medicine procedures, produces diagnostic images, and collaborates with radiologists to support accurate diagnosis and treatment planning.

Applicants must have ARRT or NMTCB certification, Kentucky imaging licensure, BLS, and an active advanced registry; a $15,000 sign-on bonus is available for qualified individuals.

Qualifications

  • Completion of an accredited Nuclear Medicine program.
  • ARRT NM license or NMTCB certification required.
  • Current Kentucky Board of Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy license.
  • Advanced ARRT and/or CNMT registry required; PET certification recommended after 700 hours.
  • BLS certification required or must be obtained within 30 days.

Responsibilities

  • Perform MPI and other Nuclear Medicine procedures to create diagnostic images.
  • Produce high-quality images for interpretation by a cardiologist.
  • Maintain patient safety and adapt care to individual conditions.
  • Prepare accurate records in the EHR and verify PACS archives.
  • Collaborate with radiologists and NM coordinator to optimize protocols.

The Nuclear Medicine Department provides specialized diagnostic and therapeutic imaging services using radiopharmaceuticals to support accurate diagnosis and treatment planning. The department collaborates with radiologists and clinical teams to deliver safe, high-quality imaging while ensuring patient safety, regulatory compliance, and effective clinical outcomes.

Job Description:
  • The Nuclear Medicine Technologist provides health care services using radioisotopes to assist in diagnosis of cardiac specific pathologies.
  • Performs Nuclear Medicine related procedures specific to MPI, computer processing, and related techniques to produce images for the interpretation by a cardiologist.
  • Exercises professional judgment in performance of service and maintains a demeanor complimentary to medical ethics.
  • Recognizes various patient conditions in order to provide appropriate patient care to ensure successful completion of the exam or procedure.
  • Produce quality images for Radiologist's review.
  • Prepare accurate records for images and correct information documented in electronic health record (EHR).
  • Verifies images archived to PACS and notifies PACS administrator of any issues.
  • Sends images to tele-radiology service after hours.
  • Recognizes non-quality images and the processes to both inform and correct the issue.
  • Send images to tele-radiology service after hours as requested.
  • Improves technical performance of team by employing and teaching new technology and/or software applications.
  • Maintains and/or develops imaging protocols with NM Coordinator and Radiologist.
Requirements:
  • Satisfactory completion of an education program in Nuclear Medicine.
  • Current license with the American Registry Radiologic Technology (ARRT) or certificate with the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB).
  • Current license with the Kentucky Board of Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy.
  • Current Advanced ARRT and/or CNMT Registry required. PET certification recommended upon completion of 700 hours of clinical experience.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required. If not already certified, must obtain BLS within 30 days of their hire date.
