Job Title: Nuclear Med/PET-CT Technologist
Location: Newburyport, MA
Hours: Part-Time & Per Diem Hours Available - flexible options available

Purpose and Scope:

In keeping with Shields Health Care's commitment to excellence, the PET technologist will provide a professional, caring atmosphere to all customer groups, while maintaining a fast-paced, multi-tasked clinical environment.

Primary Responsibilities:
  1. Follow all Shields Health Care Group policies, procedures, and protocols to ensure patient safety at all times.
  2. Follow rules and regulations established by the NRC, state regulatory agencies, and JCAHO.
  3. Inform the patient of all aspects of their exam to their level of understanding.
  4. Operate PET equipment to produce images and measure concentrations of Radioactive Isotopes in specific body areas and body products.
  5. Perform all hot lab responsibilities.
  6. Ensure patient is cleared of all contraindications and hazards.
  7. Accurately position the patient and ensure their comfort.
  8. Maintain visual and verbal contact with the patient during the exam.
  9. Complete all forms pertaining to patient’s exam.
  10. Record patient data to Tech Data Entry program.
  11. Provide and issue films when appropriate.
  12. Forward PET related data to Radiologist upon completion of exam.
  13. Refilm cases as time allows.
  14. Assist clerical staff as circumstances arise.
  15. Clean and re-supply equipment and rooms as needed.
Educational Requirements:
  • Must possess a state license for the state(s) in which employed.
  • Must be certified in CPR.
  • Must be registered by the ARRT and/or NMTCB.
Experience Requirements:
  • Minimum of one-year prior nuclear medicine experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in starting IVs.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to sit and utilize a computer for extended periods.
  • Assist patients with mobility difficulties.
  • Push, pull, and lift a minimum of twenty-five pounds.
Internal/External Interactions:

Extensive interactions with patients, families, healthcare providers, vendors, and transport personnel.
