Job summary

Duke Energy is seeking Nuclear Maintenance Technicians to perform mechanical maintenance, assembly, disassembly and repair of nuclear power plant equipment, ensuring reliability and safety. The role involves preventive and corrective maintenance and requires meeting ANSI requirements and MASS testing readiness.

The position includes rotating shifts, overtime, travel to other Duke Energy sites, and working in extreme temperatures. Residency within 60 minutes is required for this position.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Five (5) years’ work experience in related mechanical activities preferred.
  • CNC machining, HVAC with EPA certification, and instrumentation/ electrical aptitude are desirable.
  • Must demonstrate safety process adherence and strong communication skills.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds and pass MASS and basic Maintenance Training.

Summary

Nuclear Maintenance Technicians perform all types of mechanical activities by assembling, disassembling, maintaining, and repairing nuclear power plant equipment based on qualification status. This role also performs preventive and corrective maintenance for plant equipment in order to maintain optimum levels of equipment reliability.

Basic Qualifications
  • - High School Diploma or equivalent (e.g. GED)
  • - Three (3) years of directly related experience
Desired Qualifications
  • - Five (5) years’ work experience dealing directly with mechanical, welding/pipe fitting, rotating equipment, HVAC, or valve maintenance related activities
  • - Two-year technical school degree, or equivalent experience or training (e.g. military)
  • - CNC machining skills and experience
  • - HVAC experience, with Universal EPA certification
  • - Demonstrated proficiency utilizing advanced computer skills
