Job summary

BWX Technologies, Inc. in Erwin, Tennessee is seeking a Laboratory Supervisor 1 to oversee laboratory operations on all shifts, ensure data integrity and safety compliance, and act as a lab material custodian.

This role requires coordination with plant management and adherence to regulatory standards. You will oversee priorities with other departments, approve analytical data prior to reporting, monitor operations, and manage hourly personnel performance while maintaining a safe work

Qualifications

• A.S. in science, engineering, or a technical field, or four years of lab supervision experience.
• One year of college chemistry or physics.
• 1-2 years of supervisory experience; a B.S. in science/engineering acceptable without supervisory experience.

Responsibilities

• Supervises laboratory operations across all shifts and approves data for reporting.
• Ensures safety and regulatory compliance in all lab activities.
• Directs and monitors hourly staff performance and disciplinary actions when required.
• Directs material custody and writes work orders for maintenance as needed.
• Prepares transfers of wastewater to WWTF and manages sample returns to the generator.
