Job summary

SST Direct in Torrance, CA seeks a Metrology Technician to own dimensional inspection and quality data for components used in modular nuclear reactor systems. You will operate laser scanning, laser trackers, and machine vision inspection equipment to verify parts against engineering specifications.

This hands‑on role analyzes data, supports root cause investigations, maintains metrology equipment, and collaborates with Manufacturing and Engineering to improve inspection processes.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in dimensional inspection or metrology in a manufacturing environment.
• Hands-on experience with laser scanning, laser trackers, CMM, or machine vision inspection systems.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and inspection plans.
• Proficiency with precision measuring instruments and metrology software.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy and integrity.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced startup manufacturing environment with evolving processes.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate laser scanners, laser trackers, and machine vision systems to inspect precision components.
• Interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and inspection plans to determine correct measurement approach.
• Collect, analyze, and report dimensional data; flag non-conformances and support root cause investigations.
• Maintain and calibrate metrology equipment per established schedules and procedures.
• Develop and refine inspection programs/routines for new parts and vision system fixtures.
• Partner with Manufacturing and Engineering to resolve quality issues and improve inspection processes.
• Maintain accurate inspection records, certifications, and quality documentation.
