Job summary

Westinghouse Electric Company LLC in Columbia, SC is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Thermal-Hydraulic intern to support analytical activities for nuclear fuel and related components. This paid full-time hybrid summer internship runs May through August 2027.

You will report to the Thermal-Hydraulic and Seismic Engineering and Design and Support Manager and collaborate across internal departments to advance fuel projects.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering with a focus in thermal hydraulics.
• Completed Sophomore year of college.
• Experience in analysis and testing.
• Completed coursework in Thermodynamics, Heat Transfer, Fluid Mechanics or equivalent classes.
• Experience with MATLAB, Linux, LabVIEW.

Responsibilities

• Support thermal-hydraulic testing activities for nuclear fuel development projects
• Develop knowledge of nuclear steam supply systems, fuel assembly design
• Develop knowledge of fluid mechanics in reactors, heat transfer and related analyses
• Collaborate with internal departments on nuclear fuel projects
