Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) in Los Alamos, NM seeks a Nuclear Facilities Engineer to serve as System Engineer for vital safety systems at the WETF facility. The role acts as the primary technical authority for assigned systems, maintaining performance, baselines, and lifecycle configuration while coordinating with multidisciplinary teams.

The position requires broad nuclear facility engineering knowledge, DOE/NNSA code familiarity, and ability to guide projects and mentor junior staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering with relevant work experience.
• 3+ years of engineering experience in a regulated facility environment (Nuclear/DOE).
• Experience applying industry codes, standards, and engineering best practices.

Responsibilities

• Represent the Engineering Services Division in project execution and technical coordination.
• Develop and review engineering designs to ensure Code compliance.
• Assess condition and performance of facility systems and infrastructure.
• Apply engineering judgment to resolve complex technical challenges.
• Develop engineering cost estimates and project scopes.
• Produce engineering design deliverables and technical documentation.
• Ensure adherence to LANL Engineering Standards and Conduct of Engineering requirements.
• Support activities that improve engineering and business practices.
• Lead engineering projects and multidisciplinary teams.
• Identify and lead activities in assigned discipline to support design and operations.
