Helion Energy in Everett, WA, seeks a Senior Nuclear Engineer to lead the Nuclear Engineering team and drive neutronics, diagnostics, and shielding design. You will report to the Director of Plasma and Nuclear Science in an onsite role and shape a high-impact project roadmap.

The role requires autonomous mentorship, solid experience with MCNP simulations, and hands-on handling of radioactive materials. You will manage hiring and team growth while delivering milestone-driven results.

Qualifications

• Three+ years leading a nuclear-engineering team delivering high-impact products.
• Experience performing neutronics simulations with MCNP and variance reduction techniques.
• Hands-on handling of radioactive materials and operation of diagnostic detectors.
• Autonomous mentorship across diverse experience levels and coaching of direct reports.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Nuclear Engineering team including neutronics, diagnostics and nuclear engineering.
• Oversee shielding design, activation analysis, dose estimation, and diagnostic development.
• Manage performance of engineers and hire as needed to build the team.
