This position supports the New Megawatts initiative within the Nuclear Generation Department, including power uprate projects at Catawba, McGuire, and Brunswick. The role involves developing an understanding of power plant systems, working on multi-year projects, and supporting large projects such as plant walkdowns, vendor interfaces, and program development.

The position is based near Charlotte at a Duke Energy nuclear facility or corporate office, with a hybrid work schedule involving both onsite visits and remote work. It reports to an engineering manager in the power uprate organization within the Strategic Capital Engineering Group.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain positive working relationships with site and corporate teams.
• Provide engineering expertise in problem identification and resolution.
• Plan, organize, and monitor work activities to meet business goals.
• Prepare technical reports and documentation.
• Apply fundamental engineering concepts and procedures.
• Coordinate work activities and communicate effectively.
• Support company goals and represent the company professionally.
• Oversee design deliverables from AE firms.

Qualifications

Nuclear Engineer III: Bachelor's in Engineering from an ABET-accredited program or PE license, with at least 4 years of engineering experience.

Senior Nuclear Engineer: Same educational background, with at least 6 years of engineering experience or 5 years with PE license.

Preferred Skills

• Design experience in the nuclear sector, power uprates, project management, vendor oversight, and related areas.

Additional Requirements

• Must obtain or have nuclear site unescorted access badge.
• Meet ANSI and regulatory personnel qualification standards.
