The Duke Energy Nuclear Fleet Corporate Design Engineering (CDE) department is the Design Authority for each of Duke Energy’s six nuclear sites. CDE is responsible for executing a portfolio that includes design solutions supporting risk reduction, equipment obsolescence, and plant modernization.
The Harris Nuclear Plant Corporate Design Civil Engineering team manages the capital engineering change (EC) portfolio at the Harris nuclear site. The team collaborates with other CDE staff to ensure high-quality design solutions are delivered to meet site needs and milestones.
This is an entry-level position in the Engineering classification hierarchy. Employees at this level solve problems in engineering areas of specialization with close supervision and are expected to develop skills and work with greater independence. They possess knowledge of fundamental concepts and procedures and will develop civil/structural engineering solutions supporting design packages for plant equipment upgrades, including scope development, pipe hanger design, structural and pipe stress analysis, soil and steel/concrete structure evaluations, seismic equipment qualification, weld design, and peer review of engineering products.
