Job summary

Sargent & Lundy in Virginia is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer for an onsite field support position at Surry Nuclear Power Plant. You will join a project team designing, modifying, and analyzing electrical systems for new and existing facilities, under the supervision of engineering leads.

The role involves performing calculations, preparing design input for drawings, reviewing reports, and collaborating with clients to ensure timely, within-budget project delivery.

Qualifications

• A BS in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program is required.
• 3+ years designing electrical systems in projects for new or existing plants, with equipment selection and calculations.
• Experience with electrical system design including MV and LV distribution, transformers, generators, motors, and calculations.
• Experience liaising with clients or firms in support or lead roles.
• Experience reviewing drawings created by others.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to work in teams and independently.
• Detail-oriented approach to work.

Responsibilities

• Design, modification, and analysis of electrical systems for new and existing power plants.
• Investigate, troubleshoot, and solve electrical engineering issues.
• Assist leads to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
• Prepare and review detailed calculations (three-phase AC/DC power studies, short circuit, voltage drop, motor starting, protective relay settings).
• Prepare engineering documentation for input to drawings production.
• Review and present engineering reports and studies to meet client requirements and S&L formats.
• Perform independent reviews of work and calculations by others.
• Develop project work plans.

Education

BS in Electrical Engineering (ABET-accredited)
