X-energy LLC invites applications for a Summer 2027 internship in Oak Ridge, TN. The program partners with engineers, scientists, and professionals to contribute to TRISO-X fuel fabrication projects while gaining hands-on experience under guided supervision.

Qualifications

  • Current enrollment in — or recent completion of — a bachelor's degree in nuclear, mechanical, chemical, civil, engineering or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Academic or hands-on knowledge in SCALE, MCNP, or other NCS computer codes and models to demonstrate subcriticality.
  • Curiosity, initiative, and a collaborative mindset — you're eager to learn and ready to contribute.

  • Support active engineering projects and analyses within your area of study, contributing to work that advances TRISO-X fuel fabrication projects.
  • Provide support for day-to-day departmental or team operations.
  • Participate in brainstorming sessions, meetings, and project discussions offering input and feedback when appropriate.
  • Attend team meetings and contribute ideas and suggestions to enhance operational efficiency or project outcomes.
  • Help organize and maintain project files, documents, and records.
  • Conduct research and gather information for ongoing initiatives and projects.
  • Help prepare reports, presentations, or other materials as needed.

Depending on the internship assignment, the intern may work alongside engineers, scientists, or industry professionals to contribute to various projects related to their area of study. Under guided supervision, interns will assist with various projects and tasks, contributing to the organization's goals while learning from experienced professionals in the field. Please note: This is a pipeline requisition for anticipated Summer 2027 internship openings. What You'll Do

What You'll Bring
  • Current enrollment in — or recent completion of — a bachelor's degree in nuclear , mechanical, chemical, civil, engineering or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Curiosity, initiative, and a collaborative mindset — you're eager to learn and ready to contribute.
  • Academic or hands-on knowledge in a minimum of one of the following areas:
    • Experience using SCALE, MCNP, or other NCS computer codes and models to demonstrate subcriticality.
    • Historical accident analysis
    • Validation methodologies
    • Safety basis evaluations that identify and document NCS limits and controls.

Program Details
  • Location: 151 Lafayette Drive, Oak Ridge, TN 37830
  • Work Site Expectations: Fully on-site, 5 days per week
  • Program Length: 10-week program (anticipated June–August 2027; exact dates to be confirmed)
  • Hours: Standard office hours, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM ET, Monday–Friday
Compensation

As required by Maryland and other applicable state law, X Energy, LLC (X-energy) lists the expected compensation range for a publicly advertised job opportunity based upon the job requirements (e.g. education/training, experience, skill sets, etc.). Individual candidates who meet the job requirements for the posted position will be offered a salary within this range based on their respective levels of education/training, experience, and other qualifications unique to them. Salary ranges may vary based on the specific office location and region referenced in the posting to take into consideration differences in cost of living and may not be reflective of all regions. Please note that compensation ranges listed for US job postings reflect base salary only and do not include benefits or other incentives. A reasonable estimate for this position at the level of experience required is: $25/hour for undergrad; $40/hour for graduate.
