Job summary

KLA, Milpitas, CA is seeking an NPI Product Engineer to gain a systems engineering level knowledge of wafer inspection systems, including image processing servers, wafer stages, vibration isolation, motion control, opto‑mechanical and automated wafer handling.

You will support customers in operation, installation, upgrade, diagnosis, repair and application, write technical reports, and drive NPI and sustaining work across Asia, USA and Europe.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Physics, IT/Software/Networking, Electronics, Optics, Mechanical, Software or related technical field.
  • Hands-on experience building, operating, and solving problems for KLA Inspection systems.
  • Knowledge of servers, electrical and mechanical systems, and/or motion control.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Results oriented, driven to excel and able to learn quickly.

Responsibilities

  • Gain a systems engineering level knowledge of highly sophisticated wafer inspection systems, including image processing servers, wafer stage, vibration isolation, motion control, opto-mechanical and Automated Wafer handling.
  • Support external and internal customers in the operation, installation, upgrade, diagnosis, repair and application of systems.
  • Respond to situations where first-line support has failed to resolve problems by providing written plans of action by e-mail or hands-on assistance at customer sites in the Asia, USA and Europe.
  • Write technical reports to communicate issues, analysis, technical assessments, system status, and engineering recommendations.
  • Implement and supervise progress of the NPI/Sustaining work tasks, including diagnostic improvements, software feature requirements development, training plans and documentation planning.
  • Work closely with Engineering teams, attending concept and design reviews to provide feedback on serviceability of new designs and potential improvements.
  • Drive small projects in matrix environment

Group/Division

The KLA Services team headquartered in Milpitas, CA is our service organization that consists of Service Sales and Marketing, Spares Supply Chain management, Field Operations, Engineering, Product Training, and Technical Support. The KLA Services organization partners with our field teams and customers in all business sectors to maintain the high performance and productivity of our products through a flexible portfolio of services. Our comprehensive services include: proactive management of tools to identify and improve performance; expertise in optics, image processing and motion control with worldwide service engineers, 24/7 technical support teams and knowledge management systems; and an extensive parts network to ensure worldwide availability of parts.

Job Description/Preferred Qualifications

As a NPI Product Engineer the responsibilities would include the following:

  • Gain a systems engineering level knowledge of highly sophisticated, groundbreaking wafer inspection systems. Including the image processing servers, wafer stage, vibration isolation, motion control, opto‑mechanical and Automated Wafer handling subject areas
  • Support external and internal customers in the operation, installation, upgrade, diagnosis, repair and application of systems.
  • Respond to situations where first‑line support has failed to resolve problems by providing written plans of action by e‑mail or hands‑on assistance at customer sites in the Asia, USA and Europe.
  • Write technical reports to communicate issues, analysis, technical assessments, system status, and engineering recommendations.
  • Implement and supervise progress of the NPI/Sustaining work tasks. This will include Diagnostic improvements, software feature requirements development, training plans and documentation planning and contribution.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Physics, IT/Software/Networking, Electronics, Optics, Mechanical, Software or related technical field.
  • Hands‑on experience building, operating, and solving problems for KLA Inspection systems.
  • Knowledge of servers, electrical and mechanical systems, and/or motion control
  • Person who will thrive in this job is interested in technology, human factors, business, driving improvements, and enjoys communicating and building working relationships.
  • Knowledge or experience with industry standard problem solving methodologies and models.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Results oriented, looking for challenges, and driven to excel.
  • Quick grasp of technical information.Motivated by helping others succeed, enjoys instructing, fixing, working with groups of people, and explaining sophisticated things as simply as possible.
  • Flexibility to quickly adapt to dynamic environment (Adjust between program tasks and service team needs)
  • Availability for travel both domestically and internationally up to 10‑20%.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Master’s Level Degree and 0 years related work experience; Bachelor’s Level Degree and related work experience of 2 years; or equivalent work experience

Base Pay Range: $95,000.00 - $161,500.00 Annually
