Job summary

KLA Milpitas is seeking an NPI Product Engineer to gain deep systems engineering knowledge of wafer inspection platforms and lead diagnostics, software features, and training initiatives. You will support customers globally, prepare plans of action, and communicate findings through technical reports.

Ideal candidates hold a Master’s or Bachelor’s in engineering or a related field, with hands‑on experience on KLA Inspection systems, strong communication, and willingness to travel up to 20%

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Physics, IT/Software/Networking, Electronics, Optics, Mechanical, Software or related field.
  • Hands‑on experience building, operating, and solving problems for KLA Inspection systems.
  • Knowledge of servers, electrical and mechanical systems, and/or motion control.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Results‑oriented, proactive problem solver with ability to quickly grasp technical information.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally up to 10–20%.

Responsibilities

  • Support customers in operation, installation, upgrade, diagnosis, repair, and application of systems.
  • Provide written or hands-on action plans when first-line support cannot resolve issues at customer sites.
  • Write technical reports on issues, analysis, status, and engineering recommendations.
  • Lead NPI/Sustaining tasks, including diagnostics, software feature development, and training plans.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams during reviews to feedback on serviceability and improvements.
  • Drive small projects in a matrix environment.

Job Description

As a NPI Product Engineer the responsibilities would include the following:

  • Gain a systems engineering level knowledge of highly sophisticated, groundbreaking wafer inspection systems, including the image processing servers, wafer stage, vibration isolation, motion control, opto‑mechanical and automated wafer handling subject areas.
  • Support external and internal customers in the operation, installation, upgrade, diagnosis, repair and application of systems.
  • Respond to situations where first‑line support has failed to resolve problems by providing written plans of action by e‑mail or hands‑on assistance at customer sites in the Asia, USA and Europe.
  • Write technical reports to communicate issues, analysis, technical assessments, system status, and engineering recommendations.
  • Implement and supervise progress of the NPI/Sustaining work tasks, including diagnostic improvements, software feature requirements development, training plans and documentation planning and contribution.
  • Work closely with engineering teams, attending concept and design reviews to provide feedback on serviceability of new designs and potential improvements.
  • Drive small projects in a matrix environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Physics, IT/Software/Networking, Electronics, Optics, Mechanical, Software or related technical field.
  • Hands‑on experience building, operating, and solving problems for KLA Inspection systems.
  • Knowledge of servers, electrical and mechanical systems, and/or motion control.
  • Person who thrives in this job is interested in technology, human factors, business, driving improvements, and enjoys communicating and building working relationships.
  • Knowledge or experience with industry‑standard problem‑solving methodologies and models.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Master's Level Degree and 0 years related work experience; Bachelor's Level Degree and related work experience of 2 years; or equivalent work experience.

Base Pay Range: $95,000.00 - $161,500.00 Annually

Primary Location: USA-CA-Milpitas
