Job summary

BETA Technologies is seeking a Mechanical Engineer for the New Product Introduction (NPI) team in Vermont. You will lead development of new manufacturing processes from concept through low-rate initial production, deeply understanding aircraft system requirements to implement materials and processes that meet business goals.

The ideal candidate has strong experience in multiple manufacturing technologies, and a demonstrated capability in design for manufacturing and rapid prototyping.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
• 7+ years in manufacturing, aerospace, automotive, or high-rate production.
• Strong background in new product introduction (NPI).
• Experience scaling production, integrating new products, and cost reduction.
• Knowledge of automation and advanced production technologies.
• Experience with GD&T, tolerance stack-ups, and metrology tools.
• Data-driven decision maker using analytics to guide improvements.
• Able to meet ambitious goals and tight deadlines; self-motivated after setbacks.

Responsibilities

• Lead development of new manufacturing processes from concept to low-rate production.
• Develop intimate understanding of aircraft system requirements for materials/processes.
• Lead the mechanical design for development projects to technology readiness level 7.
• Fabricate proof-of-concept prototypes and test fixtures for rapid iteration.
• Collaborate with design, manufacturing, and supply chain to reduce cost and improve scalability.
• Coordinate with systems and certification teams to ensure certifiability.
• Design or select production equipment with cross-functional teams.
• Iteratively design, build, and test prototypes in parallel with product design.
• Support manufacturing after transition of ownership for new technologies.
