Job summary

Figure in San Jose is seeking an NPI Buyer/Planner to own material readiness for new product introductions from prototype through mass production. You convert immature BOMs and align schedules to place POs, commit dates, and kitted builds that land on time.

You will collaborate with Design Engineering, NPI, Manufacturing, Global Supply Chain, Quality, and Logistics to ensure pilot builds are clear-to-build even as designs change rapidly.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field or applicable industry experience.
• 3–5 years in buying, planning, or materials management with NPI or prototype support.
• Experience with complex electromechanical hardware and managing engineering changes during builds.

Responsibilities

• Convert engineering build plans and prototypes into time-phased material requirements for EVT/DVT/PVT and pilot builds.
• Own RFQ-to-PO cycles for prototype materials, place POs, track ETAs, and expedite as needed.
• Manage material disposition for ECOs and deviations; maintain BOM accuracy and lead times.
• Support build execution with consignment materials and inventory reconciliation for quick-turn builds.
• Hand off part history, supplier commitments, and planning parameters to production planning at ramp.
• Identify recurring failure points in NPI material flow and implement reporting/process improvements.
