Job summary

Leonardo DRS in Germantown, MD is hiring a Manufacturing Engineer for New Product Introduction. This full-time, on-site role focuses on integrating design for manufacturability, developing production processes, and transitioning NPI programs into production.

You will support prototype builds, maintain BOMs in ERP, and collaborate with design and manufacturing teams to reduce cost and cycle time. A Bachelor's in engineering and aerospace/defense experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing or Electrical Engineering.
• Two years of engineering experience in aerospace or defense.
• Proficiency in SolidWorks and ability to read GD&T on engineering drawings.
• Familiarity with ERP systems and BOM management.

Responsibilities

• Support Design for Manufacturability reviews on new assemblies and electro‑mechanical systems.
• Interpret and review drawings and GD&T for producibility and inspection feasibility.
• Develop manufacturing processes, work instructions, and assembly procedures for NPI.
• Assist in prototype and first article builds on the production floor.
• Maintain BOMs and ERP data for material planning and configuration control.
• Identify opportunities to reduce cost, cycle time, and risk through process improvements.
• Work with manufacturing teams to establish tooling, fixtures, and process controls.
• Support the transition of NPI programs into production with proper documentation.
