Job summary

Jobtailor in Colorado, USA, seeks an experienced Manufacturing Engineer to own the manufacturing deliverables across all NPI phases, including DFM/DFA reviews, process definition, first-article inspection, pilot builds and production qualification.

You will collaborate with hardware and firmware teams, develop and maintain process documentation, define test fixtures, lead CM builds, and manage ECO transitions to production with rigorous quality controls.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related technical discipline; master's preferred.
7–10+ years in manufacturing engineering within high-tech manufacturing.
Experience in electronic products manufacturing & testing.
Track record of transitioning complex electro-mechanical systems to high-volume production.
Familiar with PLM software (Windchill, Arena) and ERP/MES systems.
Deep understanding of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma (Green/Black Belt preferred), APQP, PPAP, and RCA.

Responsibilities

Own manufacturing deliverables across all NPI phases: DFM/DFMA, process definition, first-article inspection, pilot builds, and production qualification.
Participate in hardware design reviews; identify manufacturability risks and drive resolution before design freeze.
Develop and maintain manufacturing process documentation: work instructions, travelers, test procedures, inspection criteria.
Define and qualify test fixtures and tooling for new product builds.
Lead pilot and EVT/DVT/PVT builds at CM; capture defects, yield data, and implement corrective actions.
Coordinate ECO transitions into production with proper documentation and process updates.
Own FPY tracking and root-cause analysis for defects across PCBA and box-build lines.
Lead failure analyses on field returns and production escapes; produce 8D reports with permanent corrective actions.
Develop PFMEAs and control plans for high-risk manufacturing processes.
Identify cost reduction opportunities via DFM improvements and CM negotiation support.
Support incoming inspection and supplier quality with Supply Chain.
Partner with hardware/firmware to ensure manufacturability in design decisions.
Provide manufacturing input to product roadmaps; flag risks early.
Collaborate with Production Scheduler to translate changes into achievable plans.
