Job summary

Teledyne FLIR Defense is seeking an NPI Engineering Technician in Wilsonville, OR to support the development and launch of new gimbal products. You will work with design, qualification, quality, and manufacturing teams to build electromechanical prototypes and drive smooth transitions from design to production.

The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with electromechanical assemblies, 5S and lean manufacturing, and proficiency with ERP/PLM systems.

Qualifications

Minimum 5 years hands-on experience in a technician role supporting NPI, prototype or LRIP environments.
Direct experience with electromechanical and/or optomechanical assemblies preferred.
Experience leading 5S and lean manufacturing initiatives; ability to update technical work instructions.

Responsibilities

Support prototype builds for complex electromechanical and optomechanical assemblies in coordination with engineering, quality, and manufacturing teams.
Manage LRIP line activities including scheduling, line setup, resource coordination, and performance tracking.
Maintain line assets including tools, fixtures, and equipment for prototype and early production phases.
Implement and maintain 5S standards to promote efficiency and safety.
Update work instructions and production documentation to remain current.
Contribute to Design for Manufacturability reviews with feedback on manufacturability issues.
Document production issues, tooling limitations, and component fit/function concerns for engineering review.
Provide hands-on build support, troubleshooting, and rework during prototype and initial production phases.
Collaborate across functions to drive continuous improvement in processes and quality.
