Job summary

The State of North Carolina's Department of Environmental Quality is seeking an Environmental Program Supervisor II in Raleigh to oversee the NPDES Industrial unit within the Division of Water Resources, ensuring compliance with EPA and state requirements and guiding staff.

This role involves coordination with regional offices and stakeholders, staff management, and occasional travel; a Bachelor's degree and five years of environmental experience are required; a hybrid telework option is

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in agricultural, biological, engineering, environmental, or natural resource sciences.
Five years of progressive environmental work experience.
Equivalent combination of education and experience accepted.

Responsibilities

Oversee staffing and workload; manage policy, procedures, and guidance for the NPDES Industrial unit.
Convey issues and reports to management to ensure program implementation.
Review draft NPDES Industrial Permits and assist in engineering review of proposed wastewater alternatives.
Address industrial facilities related to PFAS with WSA coordination.
Develop and negotiate positions in complex NPDES permitting scenarios.
Attend public hearings and respond to questions from the public and regulated community.
Complete special projects as assigned.
