Job summary

Rehlko is seeking a driven Mechanical Project Engineer for NPD to lead development of high-performance generator sets. You will guide projects from concept to validation, applying thermodynamics, engine knowledge, and stress analysis to deliver reliable products.

Collaborate with Product Management, Engineering Analysts, Lab Technicians, Procurement, and Manufacturing to define requirements, develop specs, manage timelines and budgets, and drive multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • BSME in Mechanical Engineering required.
  • 2–5 years mechanical engineering experience in product development.
  • Experience with power generation, engines, cooling systems a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Define product requirements with Marketing and translate to functional specs.
  • Create project timelines and preliminary spending estimates; assist in business case.
  • Provide design direction to engineering team and validate via testing.
  • Design generator sets to meet performance and cost targets.
  • Approve major components and support cost analysis.

We are seeking a driven and technically skilled Mechanical Project Engineer of NPD to provide engineering leadership and project direction in the development of high-performance generator sets and power generation solutions. This role is responsible for guiding product development from concept through validation, applying expertise in thermodynamics, internal combustion engines, stress analysis, cooling systems, and electrical theory to deliver reliable, cost-effective products.

The ideal candidate will collaborate cross-functionally with Product Management, Engineering Analysts, Lab Technicians, Procurement, and Manufacturing teams to establish product requirements, develop technical specifications, manage project timelines and budgets, and ensure successful execution of multiple projects in a fast-paced matrix environment. This NPD Mechanical Project Engineer position requires a self-motivated professional with strong problem-solving, communication, and project management skills who is committed to engineering excellence, continuous improvement, and delivering innovative solutions that meet performance, durability, quality, and cost targets.

Work mode: Hybrid-3 days on site

Responsibilities
  • Assist in establishing product requirements with Marketing Product Mangers. Use those requirements to create functional specifications establishing design targets.
  • Create project timelines, provide preliminary project spending estimates. Work with Product marketing to present project business case.
  • Provide technical and design direction to Engineering Analysts, and other Engineers.
  • Design assigned generator sets to meet performance and cost criteria.
  • Approve the selection of all major purchased components (i.e. radiators, fans, air cleaners, engines, etc.) and support the selection with sound engineering calculations.
  • Work with Accounting and Procurement functions to track actual project spending and product costs keeping them within prescribed boundaries.
  • Validate designs through testing to meet performance, reliability, and durability targets.
  • Support, maintain and update existing product designs.
  • Use project management skills to keep projects on schedule.
  • Provide concise and timely status reports on the progress of each assigned project.
  • Lead continual improvement initiatives to streamline internal business processes and support system upgrades.
Requirements
  • BSME (Bachelor of Science – Mechanical Engineering from ABET Accredited Institution).
  • Minimum of 2-5 years mechanical engineering experience with development of new consumer or industrial products.
  • Experience with power generation, internal combustion engines, cooling systems and alternators a plus
  • Exposure to DFMEA, systems engineering practices, or model-based development.
  • Ability to work on multiple tasks and projects in a structured development environment.
  • Strong documentation, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated skills in project management and leadership as well as the ability to work in a team environment.

The Salary range for this position is $83,300.00-$105,200.00.The specific Salary rate offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s experience, their education, and the work location.
