Job summary

Rehlko in Wisconsin is seeking a Generator Systems Engineer to lead development, analysis, validation, and optimization of generator systems for critical power applications. You will apply power system modeling, simulation, and electrical engineering expertise to improve reliability and support new products.

The role requires a BS in Electrical Engineering (ABET) and 3+ years in the field; experience with electric machines and FEM tools is preferred.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited B.S.E.E. required.
• 3+ years of electrical engineering experience preferred.
• Hands-on testing experience is a plus.
• Experience with electric machines and electromagnetic analyses is an advantage.
• Strong analytical and communication skills; team-oriented.

Responsibilities

• Perform transient analysis of generator applications to optimize sizing.
• Develop and implement alternator diagnostics algorithms.
• Provide model development and power system simulation guidance (Simulink, SKM).
• Collaborate with stakeholders to validate first article production machines.
• Support applications engineering with customer issues and root-cause investigations.
• Lead best-practice development within the department.

As a Generator Systems Engineer, you will play a key role in the development, analysis, validation, and optimization of generator systems used in critical power generation applications. In this role, the Generator Systems Engineer will leverage power system modeling, simulation, and electrical engineering expertise to evaluate system performance, improve reliability, and support new product development. Working collaboratively with cross-functional teams, customers, and external partners, the Generator Systems Engineer, will provide technical leadership in generator and alternator applications, support troubleshooting and root cause investigations, and help drive innovative solutions that enhance product performance, quality, and value.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Perform transient analysis of simulations of generator applications to optimize sizing.
• Develop and implement Alternator diagnostics algorithms.
• Provide model development and guidance for power system simulation in Simulink, SKM, and other power system toolsets.
• Work in conjunction with internal and external stakeholders to validate first article production machines.
• Provide expertise and support to the applications engineering group for customer and application-specific issues.
• Perform root cause failure analysis of alternator test failures.
• Develop, maintain and teach best practices within the department.
• Support education of internal and external stakeholders on power systems fundamentals.
• Assist in optimization of new and existing power systems for performance and cost.
• Limited domestic and international travel (<10%).

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Education: Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited institution is Required.

Preferred Experience: 3+ years work experience in an Electrical Engineering field. Candidates with no Electrical Machines experience will be considered if they have an interest in learning the concepts.

Excellent quantitative and qualitative analytical skills. Strong communication skills. High level of motivation and ability to collaborate effectively in a team and independently to achieve desired results.

Preferred Skills: Hands-on experience with electric machine testing. Targeted coursework in electric machines. Experience with reference frame (qd0) analyses, symmetrical component analyses, and/or islanded power systems is considered an advantage. Experience with electromagnetic finite element tools (e.g., Ansys Maxwell or Altair Flux)

The Salary range for this position is $83,300.00-$105,200.00. The specific Salary rate offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s experience, their education, and the work location.
