Job summary

VitalCore Health Strategies in Michigan is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to provide ambulatory care within a correctional setting at Macomb Correctional Facility in Lenox Township. The role requires collaboration with physicians, security staff, and multidisciplinary teams; delivering patient education, documenting encounters, and following safety protocols.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited NP/PA program
• Must possess current licenses or certifications in the state of employment
• Experience in Correctional desired but not required
• Maintains required annual licensure and credentialing requirements for physician assistants / Nurse Practitioner in the healthcare unit.

Responsibilities

• Responds to and initiates care for medical emergencies throughout the facility.
• Identifies patient health problems and prescribes treatment under the direction of a physician.
• Implements medical care utilizing therapeutic regimens approved by a Physician.
• Provides education to inmate/patient, healthcare staff, and correctional staff.
• Documents all healthcare contacts.
• Adheres to safety and security policies and participates in disaster drills.
• Follows security regulations for keys, sharps, and controlled medications.
• Delegates to and supervises other team members as appropriate.
• Adheres to Universal Precautions and other appropriate infection control practices.
• Attends training and meetings as required.
