Job summary

The Children's Guild in Baltimore, MD is hiring a School Social Worker to support students’ social, emotional, and academic success. You will provide individual and group counseling, complete psychosocial assessments, and help develop IEP/504 plans, serving as a critical link between students, families, schools, and the community.

The ideal candidate has an MSW, Maryland licensure (or in progress), 2–5 years in relevant settings, strong trauma-informed practice, solid assessment and case

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Social Work from an accredited program (MSW).
• Active licensure in Maryland (LCSW-C, LCSW, LMSW) or working toward full licensure.
• 2–5 years of experience in a school-based, child welfare, or community setting.
• Knowledge of trauma-informed practices, IDEA, and 504 regulations.
• Strong assessment, counseling, and case management skills.
• Ability to build trusting relationships with students, families, and staff.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for home and community visits.

Responsibilities

• Provide individual and group counseling to students with social, emotional, and behavioral needs.
• Conduct psychosocial assessments and contribute to IEP and 504 planning.
• Connect families to community resources, wraparound services, and crisis support.
• Support attendance intervention efforts and chronic absenteeism reduction.
• Collaborate with teachers, clinicians, administrators, and families to support student well-being.
• Serve as a student advocate — ensuring every child's voice is heard and their needs are met.
• Facilitate family meetings, home visits, and community outreach as needed.
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation in compliance with COMAR, HIPAA, and agency standards.
• Drive cultural transformation efforts by championing a trauma-informed, family-centered school culture.
