Job summary

Wellpath seeks a Nurse Practitioner to deliver comprehensive medical services to incarcerated patients under the supervision of the Site Medical Director in a correctional setting. You will perform routine and emergency care, document in SOAP format, and coordinate with on-site physicians and staff.

You will maintain patient confidentiality, adhere to policies, and participate in facility committees, with ongoing training and growth opportunities within a mission-driven organization.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Advanced degree in an approved and accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
• Prior medical/surgical and/or emergency/trauma experience and corrections experience is preferred.
• Scheduling flexibility to rotate hours and be called during emergency situations to provide coverage.
• Must have and maintain current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner within the state of employment and CPR certification.

Responsibilities

• Conducts routine and emergency medical care for inmates, including chronic care clinics, infirmary rounds, and emergency treatment on-site.
• Adheres to established policies and procedures for medical care, including documentation in SOAP format, adherence to formulary regimens, and utilizing available in-house resources for treatment.
• Assumes responsibility and accountability for individual judgments and actions, while also reporting any concerns or questions to the Medical Director or Health Services Administrator.
• Maintains patient confidentiality and privacy in accordance with accepted practices for incarcerated individuals.
• Provides input into facility mandatory committees as requested.
