Ward 22 is a 24-bedded in-patient unit providing high standards of care to patients requiring therapy support, discharge planning, and assistance with activities of daily living. The ward has a dedicated team that offers care based on patient needs to local and surrounding area patients.
The unit operates 24/7 on an early, late, and night shift pattern to ensure continuous, safe, and effective care.
An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Band 3 Health Care Assistant to join our team. The position is an 18-hour permanent contract with shifts including long days (07:00 – 20:00), early (07:00 – 15:00), late (12:00 – 20:00), and night shifts (19:30 – 07:30). The hospital provides 24-hour inpatient care.
The successful candidate will be supported during an induction period and will receive training. Previous experience in a care setting is preferred, and willingness to undertake further training is expected. Ideal qualities include honesty, flexibility, and reliability.
The primary role of the Health Care Assistant is to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care. Responsibilities include supporting qualified nurses, assisting with activities of daily living, reporting findings, helping with dressings and wound care, applying proper moving and handling techniques for pressure care, and documenting patient care accurately using the IT system.
Our operations span three main hospitals: Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, along with community healthcare facilities including Millom Hospital, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.
FGH and RLI offer comprehensive hospital services, including Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units, and specialist consultant-led services.
WGH provides general hospital services along with an Urgent Treatment Centre for non-life-threatening conditions like fractures and minor illnesses.
All hospitals provide outpatient services, diagnostics, therapies, day cases, and inpatient surgeries. Community outreach services and diagnostics are also available across Morecambe Bay.
