Job description

Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School is currently accepting applications for Director of Bands. We are seeking a passionate, student-focused, and forward-thinking music educator to lead one of Florida’s most elite and celebrated band programs — the Eagle Regiment.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in concert and marching bands, leadership experience in both instructional and administrative roles, and a commitment to building community through music. With the full support of school administration, staff, boosters, and a thriving musical ecosystem, the new Director of Bands will step into a program that is ready to soar.

Key Responsibilities
— Lead and conduct the Eagle Regiment Marching Band, multiple concert bands, and jazz ensembles

— Supervise and coordinate performances, competitions, and travel

— Collaborate with a fully staffed music and visual team including percussion, colorguard, and boosters

— Maintain and develop curriculum, lesson plans, and student assessments aligned with state standards

— Oversee student leadership development and ensemble management

— Foster a positive and inclusive culture for all student performers

— Engage with the Band Booster Association, local community, and administration to support program needs

— Work with feeder programs to build long-term program continuity

— 2023 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade

— 2023 London New Year’s Day Parade

Full-time Director of Colorguards & Director of Percussion Studies.

Excellent booster support and strong school/district administration backing the program.

Qualifications
— Florida Professional Teaching Certificate or eligibility to obtain one in Music Education (K-12)

— Prior successful experience directing secondary-level bands preferred

— Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills

— Marching band design and programming experience is a plus

— Familiarity with BOA, FMBC, FFCC, and FBA circuits encouraged
