Casa Serena is hiring a Residential Cook to prepare lunch and dinner for the women in our residential treatment program in Santa Barbara, CA. You will work from a recipe bank, selecting meals based on on-hand ingredients and dietary needs, focusing on wholesome, home-style cooking and batch-prepping.

The role emphasizes consistency with meal times, adherence to dietary restrictions, and maintaining a clean, organized kitchen.

Qualifications

• Comfortable cooking for 10–20 people and scaling recipes.
• Able to accommodate common dietary restrictions including vegetarian and vegan.
• Able to obtain a Food Handler Card upon hire.
• Reliable attendance and ability to hit meal times consistently.
• Willingness to follow a recipe bank and a daily structure.
• Organized, clean, team-player, receptive to feedback.
• Basic computer skills (MS Office or Google Suite).
• Able to pass a background check.
• Valid driver’s license with clean driving record.

Responsibilities

• Cook lunch and dinner daily for roughly 10 to 15 residents, with a fresh green salad at every meal.
• Plan weekly meals from our recipe bank based on ingredients on hand, client response, and dietary needs.
• Prepare a simple afternoon snack and set up breakfast items for overnight staff.
• Weekly batch-prepping: dressings, dips, make-ahead hot breakfast, veggie sticks, and other snacks.
• Prepare additional meals for program staff to reheat on non-working days.
• Keep a freezer stock of backup entrees, including gluten-free and vegan options.
• Maintain inventory of kitchen staples and fresh/frozen foods; complete weekly grocery trips.
• Clean dishes, keep kitchen clean and organized, label and store properly.
• Meet weekly with the Residential Manager.
