YSS is seeking a a skilled, driven, hands-on individual with an "I can do it" attitude to join our Facilities Team as ourNorth Iowa Maintenance Lead.
Reporting to the YSS Facilities Director, the Maintenance Lead with will work primarily at the YSS of North Iowa location in Mason City. Occasional travel to other YSS locations may be needed.This position will assist the Facilities Director with the development and implementation of the maintenance program for the North Iowa location. This includes reviewing, responding to, and completing work order submissions involving basic maintenance and repair, preventative maintenance, exterior maintenance, and seasonal readiness/winterization. Other responsible include:
- Meeting daily/weekly with the Facilities Director to coordinate activities.
- Using the work order/ticketing system to identify tasks needing completed.
- Performing assigned repair and maintenance tasks using a variety of hand tools, power tools, and standard building supplies.
- Monitoring and maintaining YSS vehicles.
- Managing inventory, including conducting quarterly reviews.
- Helping with budget development, generating quarterly building reports, updating procedure manuals, and performing other administrative tasks.
- Coordinating necessary building permits and city and state inspections.
- Participating in project planning and management.
- Functionally supervising contractors and vendors
- Opening and closing office buildings for daily operations.

MUST HAVES - Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma/equivalent.
- At least four years of professional trade experience which includes:
- basic maintenance and repair
- preventative maintenance,
- seasonal readiness/winterization
- carpentry,
- construction,
- custodial.
- electrical,
- HVAC,
- painting
- plumbing,
- renovation/remodeling
- Hands-on experience with a wide range manual and power of tools
- Skilled in managing tasks through work order systems
- Solid foundation in basic vehicle maintenance
- Confident user of Excel and Word for tracking and reporting
- Proven leadership with oversight oftrades teams
- This role involves regular local travel.To comply with YSS insurance requirements, youmust:
- Be at least 21
- Have a valid, state, driver’s license anda clean driving record
- Maintain auto insurance that meets YSS coverage standards
SHOULD HAVES - Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with:
- budgeting
- inventory management
- report writing
- Experienced in project management with strong organizational and multitasking abilities
- Self-motivated and capable of working independently with minimal supervision
- Customer-focused and collaborative, with excellent interpersonal skills
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving capabilities
- Effective in managing time, priorities, and resources for self and teams
- Clear and concise communicator, both written and verbal
- Knowledgeable in ADA and OSHA compliance standards
The IDEAL Candidate Will:
- Have a few trade certifications.
- Know what IBC means.
- Be mission-driven, with a commitment to equity, inclusion, and positive social impact.
