Job Summary

Normothermic Regional Perfusion is essential for maintaining and optimizing organ perfusion before transplantation. Perfusionists play a crucial role in this process, primarily responsible for overseeing the normothermic regional perfusion of thoracic and/or abdominal organs intended for transplantation. Their role is vital in ensuring that organ function is properly assessed before organ recovery.

Responsibilities
  • Remote, on-call availability for organ procurement procedures. The perfusionist will meet the recovery team at the Organ Procurement Organization. The team will then travel together to the procuring hospital.
  • Perform normothermic regional perfusion procedures for organ recovery. This involves the cannulation and perfusion to maintain cellular function and viability.
  • Maintain traditional perfusion parameters.
  • Make necessary adjustments to optimize organ function and viability.
  • Perform and analyze point-of-care testing equipment during perfusion processes, including but not limited to anticoagulation, blood gas analysis, and lactic acid analysis.
  • Work closely with transplant surgeons, organ procurement organizers, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate the timing and logistics of normothermic regional perfusion procedures.
  • Maintain accurate records of perfusion parameters, organ assessments, and transplantation outcomes.
  • Ensure compliance with national and local organ recovery standards as established by institutional protocols for organ recovery and preservation.
  • Identify and address any issues or complications that may arise during the perfusion process. Implement corrective actions to mitigate risks and ensure the successful procurement and preservation of organs.
  • Advocate for donors by maintaining the highest level of professionalism and being willing to participate in the standardization of nationwide NRP.
Qualifications
  • Must be a Certified Clinical Perfusionist (CCP).
  • Desired 5 years of experience as CCP.
  • Prior experience working in a clinical setting related to organ transplantation, perfusion technology, extracorporeal therapies or critical care medicine.
  • Proficiency in operating perfusion and other extracorporeal equipment to include monitoring systems.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Must currently be employed in the US.
Certifications
  • Must be ABCP certified.
Place of Work
  • This position includes remote, on-call duties to accommodate the timing of organ procurement and transplantation procedures.
  • Response to the hospital/procurement team promptly.
  • Based out of Orlando, Florida
Salary and Benefits
  • Salary range varies depending on qualifications and experience. The employee will receive a base salary with opportunities for bonuses and additional income.
