We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Senior Technical Buyer to join our procurement team. The Technical Buyer will be responsible for sourcing and purchasing technical products, materials, and services in support of production, engineering, and R&D teams. This role requires a strong understanding of technical specifications, engineering drawings, and industry standards to ensure accurate and timely procurement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Source and procure materials, components, and equipment based on engineering and production requirements
  • Interpret technical specifications and engineering drawings to accurately identify procurement needs
  • Evaluate and select suppliers based on technical capability, cost, quality, and delivery performance
  • Ensure sustainability is an integrated part of the procurement process, including assessment of environmental impact, ethical guidelines, and supplier social responsibility
  • Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships; negotiate pricing, terms, and delivery schedules
  • Collaborate closely with Engineering, Production, and Quality teams to ensure materials meet project and quality standards
  • Monitor market trends, supplier performance, and material availability to minimize supply chain risk
  • Prepare and issue purchase orders (POs); track and expedite orders as needed to meet deadlines
  • Resolve discrepancies between purchase orders and supplier invoices, deliveries, or product quality
  • Maintain accurate procurement records and documentation in ERP systems
  • Contribute to cost reduction initiatives and continuous improvement of the procurement process

Desired qualifications:

  • Degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain, Engineering or equivalent. Formal education can be replaced by long term work experience
  • 3+ years of experience in a technical procurement or purchasing role, preferably from a production environment and with a solid understanding of the full value chain
  • Strong understanding of technical products, engineering drawings, and manufacturing processes
  • Experience in identifying and qualifying new suppliers
  • Familiarity with sustainable procurement and supplier follow-up is an advantage – especially with regard to environmental, ethical, and social responsibility.
  • Experience with ERP systems
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills, with an analytical and solution-oriented mindset
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Can manage multiple, sometimes conflicting priorities
  • Good knowledge of Norwegian and English, both written and spoken

The position is office-based in Holmestrand,with occasional visits to suppliers or manufacturing sites.
