Job summary

The Breck School in Golden Valley, MN seeks an Assistant Nordic Ski Coach to support the Nordic Ski program under the Head Coach. The role focuses on day-to-day program operations and helping student-athletes develop toward varsity-level competition.

You will reinforce teamwork, inclusivity, and sportsmanship, coordinate practices with coaching staff and the Strength and Conditioning Coach, and participate in events and meetings to support program success.

Qualifications

  • Prior playing or coaching experience in Nordic Ski.
  • Understanding of Nordic Ski fundamentals and coaching techniques.
  • Experience building relationships with administrators, opponents, staff, parents and athletes.
  • Exhibits professionalism, organizational, communication, delegation, and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

  • Reinforce the tone and culture of the team – model teamwork, trust, inclusivity, respect and leadership; encourage sportsmanlike conduct at all times.
  • Manage and supervise practices and athletic events.
  • Work with student athletes to improve their abilities in Nordic Ski.
  • Partner with coaching staff to provide unity across all levels and teams.
  • Work with the Strength and Conditioning Coach to provide a year round support.
  • Encourage and support multi-sport athletes within Breck.
  • Participate in special activities, such as parent meetings, senior night, banquets, etc.
  • Attend meetings and events to improve coaching performance, such as professional development meetings, clinics, etc.

Position Overview

The Assistant Nordic Ski Coach is responsible for supporting the success of the Nordic Ski program. Working in close partnership with the Nordic Ski Head Coach, the Assistant Coach manages the day-to-day operations of the program while playing a key role in preparing student-athletes for success at the varsity level. All coaches are required to abide by rules and regulations of the NFHS, the MSHSL, IMAC Conference and Breck School.

Qualifications

  • Experience building and maintaining effective working relationships with school administrators, governing organizations (MSHSL, etc.), opponents, staff, parents, and athletes.
  • Exhibits professionalism, organizational, communication, delegation, and interpersonal skills.
