Job summary

Paul Smiths College is seeking a hands-on Nordic Center Manager to lead the Nordic Center at the VIC Outdoor Center. The role focuses on growing year-round visibility, programming, events, and earned revenue while delivering a high-quality visitor experience for students, guests, and the community.

Working with the VIC Director and campus partners, you will oversee operations, safety, scheduling, and partnerships to align with the college’s goals for student learning, enrollment, and community

Qualifications

Experience in outdoor recreation event management or related field.
Strong planning and organizational skills with customer service focus.
Ability to supervise staff, volunteers, and seasonal workers.
Flexible with hours including early mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

Coordinate day-to-day Nordic Center operations, including public access, scheduling, safety, and service standards.
Develop and promote Nordic programming, races, clinics and youth/community activities.
Build partnerships with Nordic clubs, schools, and tourism partners to grow visits and earned revenue.
Recruit, train, and mentor student employees and seasonal staff; serve as Manager on Duty.
Collaborate with VIC Director and college partners to balance student needs with public access and revenue goals.
