Job summary

SFUSD is seeking a Noon Monitor/Playground Aide to supervise students, organize group activities, and ensure safe, orderly play during the school day at Alvarado Elementary School. This part-time, temporary role supports student well-being and district safety initiatives.

Ideal candidates are reliable, communicate effectively with students and staff, and can manage conflicts using proven de-escalation strategies. The position offers seasonal benefits and is aligned with the school calendar.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Prior experience working with children under supervision of teachers or school staff is preferred.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced school environment.

Responsibilities

• Noon Monitors transport students safely on school grounds.
• Supervise students at playtime and maintain a harmonious playground.
• Organize group games and activities for students.
• Supervise lunch recesses in cafeteria and yard.
• Assist students in wellness rooms and in crisis situations.
• Follow safety protocols and refer incidents to administration as needed.
