Job summary

Jamestown Upper Elementary in Hudsonville, MI is seeking a Noon Hour Aide to supervise students during lunch and recess, guide them to and from the lunchroom and classrooms, and assist with lunch items and cleanup. You will monitor behavior and support staff to ensure a safe, orderly environment for students during the noon period.

The role requires standing and walking throughout the day, lifting up to 40 pounds as needed, and clear communication.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Guide groups of students to/from the lunchroom, classroom, and play areas.
  • Model appropriate behavior in lunch lines and supervise student conduct.
  • Assist younger children with lunch trays, milk, condiments, and opening lunch items.
  • Ensure safety and discipline according to school rules.
  • Help clean up spills, wipe tables, dispose of trash, and prepare condiments between lunch sessions.

Job Description

Jamestown Upper Elementary

  • Guiding groups of students to/from the lunchroom and classroom and/or play area.
  • Guiding students toward appropriate behavior while in lunch line
  • Assisting younger children in getting lunch trays, milk and condiments
  • Helping children in opening lunch items
  • Monitoring student behavior and providing appropriate discipline as necessary within guidelines of school rules
  • Assisting students in cleaning up after themselves (spills, wiping tables, disposing of trash, etc)
  • Helping to wash tables, pick up floor trash and ready condiments between lunch sessions and after lunch period.
  • Monitoring students for safety and appropriate behavior on the playground
  • Other duties as assigned assist the staff of the school in getting adequate lunch breaks while providing appropriate school supervision
  • Supervise students and maintain a cooperative atmosphere during recess.
  • Circulate among students and attempt to resolve minor problems as they arise.
Education and/or Experience
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
