Job summary

Arabella Advisors is seeking a Staff Accountant for its Managed Organizations team in Washington, DC. The role focuses on full-cycle nonprofit accounting, revenue, and program-specific financial reporting to support multiple client projects.

The candidate will work with the Director of Finance and Senior Director on AR-related decisions, maintain strong internal controls, and help prepare schedules for audits and Form 990. A strong foundation in nonprofit accounting is essential.

Qualifications

• Three or more years of nonprofit accounting experience.
• Proficiency with accounting software and Excel.
• Experience with full-cycle GL and AP accounting processes.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage and meet deadlines for multiple projects.
• Excellent verbal and written communication, including the ability to communicate complex financial matters to non-financial personnel.
• Ability to work within multi-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Daily review of incoming funds and bank activity and recording revenue/fees in GP.
• Monthly review and recording of revenue accrual activity and related reporting.
• Record journal entries for client programs, projects and sub-projects.
• Perform routine GL account reconciliations as part of monthly closing.
• Compile 1099 reporting records for IRS regulations.
• Produce monthly/quarterly/annual financial reports for internal requests.
