Job summary

Axess Family Services is seeking a Controller to manage the day-to-day accounting department functions. The role reports to the Finance Director and supports grant accounting, audits, and agency budgets.

The position requires a minimum of five years in accounting, with nonprofit experience preferred, and a Bachelor’s in accounting. Strong communication, independence, and MS Office skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years accounting experience, preferably with non-profits.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Experience in complex non-profits with diverse programs and subsidiaries.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office; capable in accounting software.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day functions and oversight of the accounting department.
• Assist with streamlining month-end closing and timely reporting.
• Review balance reconciliations on a monthly basis.
• Oversee financial, project/program and grants accounting.
• Assist with agency budgets and funding-source budgets.
• Assist with annual audit and 990 preparations.
• Ensure compliance with COA/HRSA and other regulations.
• Support accreditation processes and internal controls.
