Job summary

Food Share Inc is seeking an Assistant Controller in Oxnard, California to support the CFO in overseeing financial operations and ensuring timely, GAAP-compliant reporting for a nonprofit organization.

You will manage the daily accounting activities, supervise staff, and coordinate the monthly close, general ledger maintenance, reconciliations, and internal controls. The role includes budgeting, grants accounting, and preparing for audits and funder reporting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
• MBA and/or CPA strongly preferred.
• Minimum eight years of progressive accounting experience.
• Experience in nonprofit accounting and grant accounting required.
• Experience supporting independent financial statement audits.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations of the accounting department and staff supervision.
• Manage monthly close process, GL maintenance, reconciliations, and schedules.
• Coordinate external audits and tax filings; prepare financial statements.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and nonprofit reporting standards.
• Monitor internal controls and drive process improvements.
