Job summary

Refugees International in Washington, DC seeks an Accountant to support the Director of Finance and Accounting and maintain GAAP-compliant financial records in Sage Intacct for grant-funded activities.

The role covers AP/AR, payroll, monthly closing, budgeting, audits, and 990 preparation, with in-person work in DC and occasional hybrid remote options. A Bachelor's degree and nonprofit experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting and/or Finance.
• Experience with Sage Intacct and Bill.com.
• Knowledge of GAAP and FASB.
• Proficient with Excel and Google Sheets.
• At least 3 years of accounting experience, ideally in nonprofit accounting.
• Willingness to work in-person in Washington, DC.

Responsibilities

• Process accounts payable/receivable, including vendor invoices and donations.
• Record payroll journal entries and reconcile with payroll filings.
• Prepare monthly close, journal vouchers, and GL reconciliations.
• Assist with budget development and budget-to-actual reporting.
• Support annual audit prep and Form 990 documentation.
