Job summary

TechTown Detroit is seeking a detail-oriented Nonprofit Accountant to support a portfolio of nonprofit clients, ensuring fund accounting accuracy, grant compliance, and board-ready reporting. You will manage general ledgers, track restricted funds, prepare monthly and annual statements, and collaborate with nonprofit clients to improve financial health and accountability for funders and boards.

This role requires 5+ years in accounting, GAAP knowledge, and experience with nonprofit reporting

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent
• 5+ years of accounting experience in professional services/nonprofit/small business
• Experience with nonprofit accounting including fund accounting and ASC 958
• Proficiency with QuickBooks and Microsoft Office
• Strong communication and organizational skills

Responsibilities

• Maintain general ledger and prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for nonprofit clients
• Track fund accounting across multiple funding sources and restricted/unrestricted funds
• Ensure grant and funder compliance and assist with audits
• Prepare reports for boards, funders, and stakeholders
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management for nonprofit clients
